last call

Like most of America- it has been a big day here.
Along with the other graduating seniors-
Jack spoke in church today.
His talk was on prayer-
having him say he is grateful for a mother who taught him to pray
is pretty much the best mother's day gift ever.

I couldn't resist documenting Chloe's hair she did it herself.

She is wearing her "wedding dress."Can you believe it's been more than a year since the wedding?

Today was such a great day it was
the much anticipated...
last call-
did you read that right?
THE LAST CALL
from the missionary...

LDS missionaries can call home twice a year
on Christmas & Mother's Day.

It was truly a treat to hear his voice.

and yes...
I started crying as soon as i heard him.
You see- it is his "last call" because he comes home-
in six months-
home.
Of course I know it will not be the same.
He has grown in 100,000 ways or more.
But the next time I hear his voice it will be in person.

On November 20th.
The week of Thanksgiving.
perfect
He says he is bringing home friends...
even though they are "intestinal friends"- I welcome them!
But I hope the fleas in his bed- stay there!
If you are wondering how he is doing- I will post an update this week!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.
SORRY mom that I didn't call until 10:30 & woke you up...
it's been a long, good day

Horray for those two calls each year. I have many years before the boys go on missions... but I can imagin that those days are the best. {My boys will over lap and I'll have 4 consecitive years of missionaries}

I'm peeking in from the card you sent to me.... good mail.... I love it!!

Oh Patsy, this post brought tears to my eyes! I know how much you love your missionary, and it is so great to see photos of the whole family taking their turn on the phone with Brian. I also loved seeing the countdown chart in the background of the beautiful picture of Chloe. Wow, only 6 months left and wow, to Jack saying he is thankful he has a mother who taught him to pray!

Wow 6 months to go, I can't believe that! I am glad you had a great Mother's Day!

Maybe Karrie and Wende should go pick up Brian and maybe they could find some "intestinal friends" of their own while they are there.

What a very special phone call (I didn't realize they could only call 2x a year). Everyone looked so happy and excited to talk with him--that's a testament to your family bond and love.

You're on the downhill part now, 6 months will pass quickly!!

Love what Jack said about prayer too. Chloe looked so mature and pretty in her *wedding* dress--great job on her own hair do.

Love Chloe's dress!--she's so cute!

Wow!-I can't imagine how exciting and good it felt to be able to talk with your guy! It seems like a million years off when I will be experiencing this with my son--
(I'm sure it seems like yesterday when you thought that about your son as well)--Time flys, for sure!

Glad you had a happy mother's day--
You are definitely one mom who deserves to be praised! :)

Happy Late Mother's Day! You inspire me as a mother--one of the many reasons I love your blog.

We're practically right at the same age in years, but you've got older kids so I love being a bystander and learning from you.
