that was quick?!

After my recent tantrum...
our computer issues are all fixed.
i am back---

as soon as I get all these people out the door, then get back from being a reading tutor, then my visiting teachers leave...

I should be blogging again- if it kills me- or the house falls down- or more likely the floors don't get swept.

so happy to be here

monday busy

Yesterday Wende & I dropped off Hailey at EFY!
She is so excited to be here!
She went last year too, so she's kind of a pro at it... this year she decided to be adventurous & go without a roommate- yep- she's trying her luck at the system giving her a roommate.
I was nervous about it, but she wasn't & when she met her new friend from Canada- she exclaimed- YES! I'VE GOT A COOL ROOMMATE!
which either thrilled or scared her knew friend to be?
After driving to the location & seeing the horrendous line to check in we decided to go to lunch first (much to Hailey's disappointment.) I cannot- I repeat- I cannot- handle heat. I wasn't about to stand in line, in the full sun, on a 100 degree day, with 400+ people! I am not exaggerating- I never exaggerate...
Sure enough, after lunch around 1:00 (check in was from 11:00-2:00) we strolled on up to the registration line & WALKED RIGHT UP BABY. No line- no one there- nada.
Hailey was so relieved, and I only gloated a little-tinsy-bit.
Wende came with me, not only because she is a dear friend, but because we were headed to one of the state's largest quilt shows afterward in a town close by.
We got there & oops- it wasn't open on Mondays.
DANG IT- oh well, thanks for spending the day with me wende.
We both brought littles with us (okay, trent isn't so little anymore...) and they were so good! I couldn't believe it- really they were great to take along. It was a lot of "in the car" time. So we stopped at the mall & each of them got a special toy- so spoiled- and played while we took turns looking around...
Plus- Us mom's got treats too!

It was a great fun day!
I miss you Hailey if you get the chance to read this-
Trent cried for a half hour after we dropped you off.
I told you he loves you!
I love you too- mom

he just doesn't get it

While Megan went to lunch with an old friend -
I picked up this guy & headed to the scout office, yep tonight was pack meeting...
We drove past the Olympic torch- love that- just had to take another photo

We made it to the office & I picked up some sweet stuff-
I volunteered to pick up everything since I needed to get something extra special.

See that white box?

Inside is Jack's Eagle.
Yep- Jack's Eagle-
Everything is in & it's all done!!
Very exciting
We are not planning on having his Eagle court of honor until summer. His good buddy Seth should have his by then & we will celebrate together. So more on that later.
Secretly... shh-
{outside the Tulie Bakery}
I had other motives to go to the scout office.
Remember last month when I discovered the bakery on the way home?
Oh the joy- I had a real reason to go back, heck I was driving by!
I was so excited to take BRett.
I kept telling him- this is going to be life changing- LIFE CHANGING
YOU won't BelieVE HOw GooD It is!!
Just look at this fruit tart
- STUNNING-

We got the chocolate mousse & a sugar cookie to share. We headed down the street, me driving because he was still on the phone with business-and I took a little bite of the cookie.
I. HAD. TO. PULL. OVER.
then- before it was gone- I had to take a photo!
It was the best sugar cookie I have ever had.
I paused & explained to Brett how the chocolate mousse has ity bity shards of Scharffen Berger chocolate in it that melt on your tongue-- so eat it slow & take it all in. With a dumbfounded look in his eye he asked if,
"I was missing little shards of something?"
He took a bite of the cookie- agreed it was the best sugar cookie ever- but ya so what?
the chocolate mousse...? ya -pretty good. Pretty good??
Later in the day I commented on his lack of enthusiasm- he apologized & promises next time to scream & immediately wet himself when we go to a bakery.
He Better

day at the capitol, hailey's day, & religious hair??

Today Karrie & I spent the day at the Capitol building. We went to the state legislative PTA conference. It was really great. We went to some fabulous classes on:Community councils, class size reduction, the state school plan- why we should have one- we don't, and gold medal schools. I really learned a lot & love being with such involved & educated women. We had lunch & witnessed some state awards given to two different people who happen to live in our school district- pretty cool.I love the capitol building. It is fantastic. I really need to go on a tour. I really want to go on a tour. I will definitely keep- going on a tour of the capitol- off my new years list for 2009- since I haven't done one single thing on my 2008 list....... (heavy sigh & rolling my eyes.) While walking to a class we spied this amazing room with the door open. We wanted so badly to go in. We discussed sneaking in & getting pictures of us sitting in the hot seat- hee hee hee. Then, noticed there were two people in there- dang. Surely we would've gotten in big trouble then kicked out of the building & kicked out of the PTA.
Cowards...

On the way there we drove by this bumper sticker...?

What in the world?

I didn't know the campaign was religious?
I won't say which is my candidate of choice,
(I think there are enough political blogs out there)
but I will say I think this is a very strange bumper sticker. Now I will also mention that the political sign in my front yard was stolen while we were in Wyoming... brett was totally ticked off. A neighbor brought it by tonight. He found it in his bushes.
Just to be fair- here's another bumper sticker we saw.
Strictly political, no religion attached.
I spent the whole first class listening intently & trying to get a good photo of the cutest haircut ever. This girl was so cute! I think I'm in love with her hair. Actually I'm pretty sure I am. I won't put her irritated, front face photo up. I think she may have guessed I was stalking her. I tried to find the right moment to tell her she had the best hair ever but didn't get the chance.
**
I got home before school got out- I ran a couple of errands- then took Hailey to a group piano lesson. While she was gone her friends came by to secretly decorate her room for her birthday. How fun!
When we got back from the lesson- I told her Chloe had put a birthday present on her bed. She opened her bedroom door & SurpRIse!! How exciting :)
What thoughtful girls! Good friends are such a blessing at every age.

We had our first of two birthday dinners.
The second one is Sunday when Megan & Tony can come down.
Jack had a rugby meeting- he is the captain this year-
so he had to skip out after the present opening.

She opened her presents- spoiled ;) -then- I told her about the girl with the great hair. She said- oh ya that's called the Mormon A line cut. What the world, again? Hairstyles religious too?

what's this world coming to?

Do YOU think this bumper sticker is weird, or am I just off?

Should I get my haircut like this... I really want to- but- Mormon A line? Have you heard of this?

Am I going mad? I think I need get some sleep for once!

Thursday

Today I met up with the blogger moms & Laurie- janae we missed you- to work on some unfinished projects at wende's house. NICE. It was fun to get together, do something productive, & enjoy their company. I have prioritized this one day a week to do this & hope it really works out. I know if we can make it work it will be a real blessing in my life.Well, I'm not sure about them- but it truly turned out to be a great therapy session for me. Out of much frustration- I swore probably 10 times... and belly ached profusely about some situations beyond my control. yes I need to relax a bit - and wash my mouth out with soap - and get a grip. The thought of swearing in front of little Ethan... What is my Problem??? I am so ashamed now. I can only blame it on my parents... heeheee ha ha - my mom is going to be so mad- but hey- in my family when I was growing up if you got mad- the words you know-
let em' fly.
How is it possible I have any friends?

*do you ever give in & let lose swearing?
*does it help?

Exaggeration- there I go doing it again!

This week I picked up Hailey from school- with Trent in the car- on my way to pick up a much needed theory book for Chloe's piano lesson. When we got to the music store Hailey didn't want to go in knowing I would be really quick. Trent asked if he could play pilot in the front seat. (I never let him play in the car so this would be a real treat) Because Hailey was there I said OK- as long as Hailey sits in the front with you. When I got back Hailey warned me-mom, Trent pushed all the buttons on the car- even though I told him not too!
Trent- don't you know that one of these buttons will blow up the car?! was my answer. It will not mom --he kept saying back, then I went on & on about how there is a secret button & wouldn't it be sad if the car blew up because he was playing with the buttons.
I wasn't being serious I was just having a little fun with him. Which reminded me of a story about my missionary.

When Brian was little he was fascinated with guys like this. He was always asking me- why does that guy have an earring... why does that guy have long hair... on & on. One day I just told him- He doesn't love his mother. That was really what it came down to in my 20 something mind. His poor mother must be so embarrassed I said...
Oh my goodness, please forgive me, I was young.
Soon after we were sitting in McDonald's play land (I'll never forget) and a guy similar to this sat down right behind us. Brian leaned over to him and asked- why don't you love your mother?
I was mortified & quickly pulled him away. Smiling & giggling to the guy who never cracked a smile back at me.
I wonder if Trent will mention to someone that he almost blew up the car? Or maybe even ask his driver's Ed. teacher about the button that blows up your car, when he's older?
I'm always doing this to my kids- why do I do it?
It must have something to do with the answer my mom gave me when I was young to the question - what's a hemorrhoid? I think it was after pushing Megan out for two hours I realized she was just joking.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTY!!
