mother's day

Can you believe it?

A week ago today I got to talk to missionary JACK! Oh Happy DaY!

This year for mother's day- most missionaries out of the country got to SKYPE HOME! Talk about excited! It was fantastic to actually SEE missionary Jack.

He looked so good & so happy. He absolutely radiated. He's tan- he's skinny- he has a bit of an accent- it was wonderful to talk to him & see him. He was smiling more than I have ever seen him. Megan said it perfectly - he looked different because "he was looking up, and smiling & had confidence." If you follow this blog- you would know he used to avoid- or look down for pictures- he has gained so much confidence. He knows he is a servant of the Lord & what is better than that?!

Besides the wonderful phone call-

it wasn't my best mother's day... just keeping it real. I had to work, then came home to none of the chores I asked to be done- done... and a house full of company. I was ticked off. I am still bitter... so in other words I am a small person. Again, just keeping it real.

Monday afternoon it got better~ I took the girls & my sister in laws to get pedicures!

It was POURING DOWN RAIN & we nearly killed ourselves getting back to the car in disposable flip flops. But it was so fun.

Can you believe- none of these guys had ever had one before?

It was a perfect way to start off the wedding week.

happy mother's day!

(scene from our house)
For mother's day...
Brett bought & set up a web cam & skype!
We had the best time talking to megan, tony & acting ridiculous for Charlie!
right now-
Brett & Trent are walking the dogs
Brian is on the phone rattling off in Spanish to someone?
The dishwasher is running after a wonderful dinner
Hailey is watching our new favorite show Life on TLC
and Chloe is making brownies!
It has been a great day
It's a wonderful life
I love being a mother
happy mother's day

posting everyday... may not be a good idea?

I made a goal to post everyday.
right now I wish I hadn't...
although some very good things did happen today-
1. Brian got a job! woo hooo-
2. I volunteered at the book fair for 2 hours
3. I finished a baby quilt & took it plus another one to a quilter today :)

I won't talk about the fact that:
mother's day is my least favorite holiday & the anticipation of it makes me act insane.
I am so crabby...
and I wish I could just sleep it off.

last call

Like most of America- it has been a big day here.
Along with the other graduating seniors-
Jack spoke in church today.
His talk was on prayer-
having him say he is grateful for a mother who taught him to pray
is pretty much the best mother's day gift ever.

I couldn't resist documenting Chloe's hair she did it herself.

She is wearing her "wedding dress."Can you believe it's been more than a year since the wedding?

Today was such a great day it was
the much anticipated...
last call-
did you read that right?
THE LAST CALL
from the missionary...

LDS missionaries can call home twice a year
on Christmas & Mother's Day.

It was truly a treat to hear his voice.

and yes...
I started crying as soon as i heard him.
You see- it is his "last call" because he comes home-
in six months-
home.
Of course I know it will not be the same.
He has grown in 100,000 ways or more.
But the next time I hear his voice it will be in person.

On November 20th.
The week of Thanksgiving.
perfect
He says he is bringing home friends...
even though they are "intestinal friends"- I welcome them!
But I hope the fleas in his bed- stay there!
If you are wondering how he is doing- I will post an update this week!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.
SORRY mom that I didn't call until 10:30 & woke you up...
it's been a long, good day

spt- something old is new again!

For mothers day I got the best ever present from my four remaining at home kids. Wow that sounded weird. Anyhow, with what was probably a little push from their dad- they presented me with something old--- that's new again.
A CHORE CHART ALL FILLED OUT
I can't believe it & I absolutely love it!!
When they were younger most of the time & always during the summer- we have had some kind of chore chart. It is usually something I make up & they reluctantly do or don't do, blah blah- you know how it is. But- not this time. They divided the categories up themselves chose their names & week days to get things done & wa la!! Guess what, they've even done most of them with out too much nagging in the first two days. I hope it lasts... either way it was a very nice gesture & one of the best ever Mother's day gifts I think I have ever been given.
So I am back doing my weekly SPT- hopefully for good!
thanks lelly

mother's day weekend

Yesterday we drove down to Cedar City to my new son in laws parent's wonderful home for an open house. Tony's mom & dad are so great! They had a lovely open house for megan & tony. It was so nice. The happy couple got more great gifts to go in the basement until they return from their 12 week internship in the south. It was a great chance for us to get away after a couple of really busy weeks. I am sad to say that this is the only picture brett took- I took none. I am pictured out, totally sick of taking & being in pictures. It's true.
Now I have none to document our fun weekend.
Dang it.
Oh well, here is a run down of the great time we had.
*As we were getting ready to leave the missionary called- we planned on calling him from my parents house in but he called a day early. We were late getting on the road, but who cares...my missionary called from Chile!!!!! It was the first of only 3 phone calls we will get in the next 1 1/2 years until we go down to pick him up. He is great, loving missionary work, missing American chocolate (not for long), told me he cried when he found out about the wedding (sniff, sniff), but is happy & busy. He is especially hoping to get sent down to the volcano area when it calms down to help with the clean up. What an adventure that would be!! It was GREAT to talk to him. I love him & miss him but I am so happy that he is happy & I can't wait to get a package off to him this week.
*driving in the car with only 4 kids & a dog.
*stopping at DQ where everyone got to pick any one thing on the menu they wanted! Fun - just in case you are wondering...
jack- watermelon freeze float
hailey- georgia mud fudge blizzard
chloe- brownie sundae
trent- onion rings & rootbeer- Okay he got two things - spoiled.
*trent peeing on the side of the road & jack trying to talk him into walking up a little hill so everyone driving by could see. Trent didn't fall for it but brett did take a cute photo of his backside- I'm not including it even though it is funny.
*visiting with megan & tony's family & friends at the open house, then watching them open more great gifts! I'm telling you, they have a great thing going!
*Mother's day dinner with my mom & dad saturday night. Brett took us out for my mother's day present. It was super fun & the most delicious mexican food.
*grandma & grandpa taking us swimming even though it was late at their pool.
*brett set up our present for mom. A sweet little humming bird feeder. she is going to love watching the birds out her dining room window.
*sleeping in & then taking a nap on mother's day- nice- thanks mom
*grandma teaching the girls & I how to make the most delicious artisan bread. I can't wait to make some & put it on the cooking blog.
*driving home & stopping at Brittany's. Brett roughhoused with the dog then when we got back on the road he threw up on his blanket. Jack & hailey just about had heart attacks- such babies. Poor max had been in the car just a little too long this weekend.
*coming home- I love being home!
Thanks for the great weekend mom & dad!
Happy Mother's Day
