open mic saturday nite

Nearly every Saturday night
Hailey girl
Plays at
Open Mic Night
8:00- 11:00 PM in a town close by our town.
It's awesome
Anyone can come-
anyone can play or sing or read a poem or whatever?
You just sign up on the dry erase board & wah la- you're in.
There are several regulars & usually one or two newbies.
It's really fun & free (donations people?)
It's great entertainment- not to mention a wonderful venue for Hailey to play her music. Last week the director of the event had her come in and do some recording. They may even make a music video with equipment donated by a grant from Michael Jordan.
cool beans
Are you local?
Looking for a cheap date for you or your teens?
Send me an email & I will send you the details.
P.S. she won't be there next Saturday night because we have tickets to her H.S. production of
The Scarlet Pimpernel
Which I hear is INcredibLE!
TIckets to that are $5 for students & $10 for everyone else & these kids are over the top talented. SEriously--- a couple of them are going on to performance schools & dance T.V. shows etc. It's the director's last year & the costumes-- everything is over the top amazing.
again give me an email shout out for info.

closing night of the "best show ever"

Tonight was closing night of what Trent has declared -" the best show ever!"Knowing how much he hated Wicked in NY last month & not to mention how he has refused to go to see his sibling's in musicals over the years... we were really nervous to take him to the parent preview on Wednesday night. Even so, I bought him a ticket for closing night & invited his best buddy lily & her sister Caroline to come along. Closing night is always my favorite performance in all the shows my kids are in, and the most difficult tickets to come by. The energy & excitement is right on. The actors/kids always put their all into closing night, and tonight was no different. Funny thing is-
Trent loved it!
We all loved it!!
Trent sat on the edge of his seat, clapped & laughed in all the right places, and at one point leaned over & hollered- "I hope you are recording this- I want to watch it again later!"
What in the world?

The kids were GREat-

The show was darling. Catchy music, cute costumes. It's really amazing what fabulous musical theater experiences there are in our town for kids. These kids don't know how lucky they are.

Hailey was the cutest- of course!

Her & her best friend Tiff.
Trent ran down stage as soon as the show was over to see all the characters. Hailey introduced him to his favorite- Snoopy. You can see by the look on his face- he was delighted. I asked him if he wanted Hailey to introduce him to the kid who played Charlie Brown- no thanks.
This kid was a fantastic snoopy-
Trent- "He was so funny!" His favorite part, when snoopy was pretending to fight the Red Baron on his tree house pretending it was an airplane.

This video is for you trent!
way to go hailey

charlie brown

Hailey's musical theater class has been working on this musical for months now.
Did you know there was a Charlie Brown- the musical?
It's opening night in just a couple of days.

Yesterday I chaperoned for 2 1/2 hours & was transported back in time to the SEVEN other times I have had kids in this class. Seven- Megan, Brian, Jack were in it two years each & Hailey was in it last year. It's a great fun experience but I have to admit- I was not sad when Chloe told me she didn't want to be in it next year, and was not trying out. I would have supported her- she is just all ballerina.
Not that it has been any work for me- it hasn't. I made Hailey's costume & shuttle her back & forth to the theater, that's it. I am so amazed at the other mom's who volunteer so, so, so much time. I feel indebted. I also feel like I don't have it in me- to be with 30+ Jr. high school age kids for more than 2 hours. they were being really good...
but listen- I do cub scouts- doesn't that count for something?
(the last half hour I left... I snuck out the door- I swear they didn't really need me- please don't tell!)

I wonder if Trent will want to be in Musical Theater?
Hmmm
Maybe?

AIDA!!

I had three meetings yesterday
(back in the saddle)
then last night I took jack & the girls to see our
High School's production of
AIDA
Talk about WOW!!!!?
It was out of this world!
Hard to believe it was a High School- seriously!
this kids were phenomenal, the sets-
stunning & the orchestra- perfect!!
All of my kids- except trent-
have participated in musicals on the Elementary, jr high, and or H.S. level.
We live in a seriously great, theatre supporting community
LUcKY
I would've given my right lung to be in a production as
wonderful as this at this age.
I wanted to be a STar -back then-
Now I am happy to just be in the audience.
Actually thrilled to be here.
I loved it.
I love musical theatre.....
Megan & Brian
wish you were here!!

Shower me Saturday

Yesterday was a really big day around here. Megan had a wedding shower in the morning & one in the afternoon! She was so excited- and so was I. The first one was at my neighbor Linda's across the street. Linda is the amazing caterer- but no I didn't take any pictures of her....??
It was a shower for friends from H.S. & friends from our old neighborhood, etc. It was a lot of fun, with tons of yummy treats... I didn't take a picture of them either. I am so lame.
H.S. friends.

The blogger mom's came! They are the best. We are standing in front of the delicious spread made by linda. These guys are so wonderful. I know some of them have probably never met megan until now- even though she told me she feels like she knows them all from the blog- it was really sweet of them to show so much love & support!

Lori & Sky.
Sky was huge help- made all the invites, etc. ARen't they cute!

Linsey, Megan & Emily.
Linsey is one of megan's dear friends growing up & linda's daughter. Emily roomed with megan last summer. She's a great friend to Megan.
Linsey & megan spent a year volunteering every Saturday when they were 15- at an old folks home running bingo in the morning. They used to come home & tell the funniest stories.
The afternoon shower was at my sweet friend Karen's house.
Yep, I don't have a picture of her either.
(I am really frustrated with myself posting this,)
These are megan's two new sisters!
They were really great & drove an hour to get here with Tony's mom. Ya, no picture of her either. She's a sweetheart. megan is so lucky to be marrying into such a great family.

Emily, megan & heather.
Megan & heather have been friends forever. Heather has been megan's roommate for a year or so now. She's from our town & a really great friend.

Lots of people came to both showers but I didn't document it very well.
She was given so many great gifts! I am amazed by the love & generosity of my sweet neighborhood. I swear I am NEVER moving if I can help it!

BrittanY & chloE!
Ruthie was here-again no picture. In between showers she took trent & her son, plus her daughter & chloe to build a bear for my nephew's birthday. Fun stuff. Trent is in love with his bear Winston. He slept with him & wanted to take him to church.

The food, friends, gifts & everything was amazing.
Thank you everyone who came Or helped. It was such a memorable day for Megan & me too.

Later that night- was the closing of Annie get Your Gun.
Hailey had a blast doing this show! Brittany & megan came, plus jack, chloe & I & brett of course. jack left at intermission.... I let him on the condition he brought all of the shower gifts in from the car. (desperate measures)
This is such a fun show!~ Great music & kissing... woo hoo- Jr. high kissing.
I mentioned to jack that he was probably bummed that they didn't do this show when he was in the cast, with all the kissing... he said- how did I know if there wasn't any kissing going on in his production???
(smarty pants)
My girls!
It was a great but very long day. I am still recuperating tonight.
I forgot to mention- Jack had a rugby game during one of the showers & made his first goal!! Dang I missed it, but dad was there. He has a home game on Wed. so I will post some pictures then.

hailey... i mean annie get your gun- parent preview

Last night Brett, Chloe & I went to the parent preview of Hailey's show. We opted to not bring -for obvious reasons- Trent which meant Jack stayed home. Jack is so willing to bbsit for jr. high events when needed- aren't you impressed? It was so great!- experience tells me it will be even better by Saturday, closing night.

All of my kids so far have taken this musical theatre class in school. It's been a great experience. Meg, Brian & Jack have made some of their closest friends as a direct result of this class. Funny how even on stage Hailey seems to hide from the camera?? I think she could see me taking this video. What a stinker.

Looks like fun, huh!?

I'm feeling guilty because I didn't help with the show this year, I'm just too busy. I just can't be everywhere. It sure is fun to sit back & watch!
