Fall 2014

Fall is really my favorite time of year.
I just have to go back & post a little about last year... before...
it comes again!

During October we made cookies-

and watched the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

Hailey turned 21- she loves all things chicken- and got this funny chicken plate.
Isn't she just the cutest!?

and Charlie turned 5.

He wanted pirate dress up clothes for his birthday.

look at this cute little pirate!

I can't resist posting this picture of Peter.
He is such a sweet baby.

Lucky me- I made it to Charlie's Preschool Halloween Parade.
LOVED IT

AND- Trent is big enough now to carve his own pumpkins- so fun.

On Halloween night a cowboy Johnny & chocolate covered 50's style Claire dropped in.

The Swat Team took care of a little pumpkin & went trick or treating in their own neighborhood.

Buzz & Woody had the best time- but by the time I took this photo- they were done.

I am still teaching cooking classes for kids at home & at work downtown.
we had a little Halloween lunch party.

As much as I hate summer to come to an end-
Fall 2015 is just around the corner.

Catching up - what did we do this winter?

I'm so sad I have neglected this blog.
-So Sad-
This is my attempt to catch up
This past winter many wonderful things happen at our house.
MANY- really A lot!
After our disastrous 2013-
we are so happy to have a new year & it really,
truly has been a year of many good things already.

I have continued to teach kids how to cook & I love it.
I'm taking the summer off.
(after realizing that Hailey & Chloe could & probably will be moved out by next summer!? What the? Home alone with Brett & Trent? How is this about to happen? PANIC!!)

In January we started out the semester with New Ideas for your Lunch Box!

Every couple of months we do another - Lunch Box class.
Lunches can get so boring, so quickly.

Hailey started her second class in ASL.
She is working towards being an interpreter & loving every minute.
She works- almost full time, teaches about 8 piano students & goes to school 2 nights a week.
She is a huge help at home & doing well.
She also plays the organ & accompanies many singers these days!

I taught the kids to make a variety of smoothies.
Big hit!

A rebellious Brett put up his yearly - wish it was summer tribute- in the front yard.

And-- unlike 2013...
We had teens in the house again! Friends. Healthy young adults.
Oh Heavenly Day.
This is a beautiful sight.

Trent & I do some cooking together too-
He LOVES to juice & make mac & cheese now.

With the cooking kids we made "Homemade Poptarts"

I LOVE THEM
and don't make them nearly enough- or is that... how it should be?

The biggest hit of the year in cooking class was by far:
Walking Tacos!
These kid crack me up.
A walking taco is all the typical taco fixings in a smashed lunch size (very small) bag of chips.
There is a lot of cooking skills that go into making a taco.
Browning Ground Turkey
Grating Cheese
Slicing Tomatoes
Cleaning & Chopping Lettuce.
I think the combination of the flavor & all the hands on made these so popular.

Being a Grandparent with all the new technology in the world is an absolute joy!

(Next post- lots more pictures of our new Grandson Peter who is an absolute doll!)

Chloe went to the Valentine Dance with her friend Tom.
It was some kind of super hero theme?

And last but not least for February updates-
in cooking class
we learned how to pipe & frost sugar cookies with Royal Icing.
This is a very small part of what was going on this winter-
more updates to come.

last weekend

Friday my cooking class for kids made
Bunny Bread

and Egg Salad.

It was fun.

Saturday we ran down to Utah Valley to see our newest family member!
Marcus & Brittany welcomed
Claire Nicole
to our family!

Isn't she BEAUTIFUL!
Only three days old in this picture.

Sunday I taught Relief Society.
Then made these spring cupcakes for Tiffany's mission farewell.
Our sweet Tiffany is going on a mission.
She is going to Atlanta, Georgia!
We are so very excited for her.

and just for fun

cooking class & babies

My March Cooking Classes are in full swing.
Here are a couple of shots of the kids cutting up veggies.
Last week we had a class all about getting more veggies into your life!
It is interesting & fun to see the kids react & try new things.
This week we worked on jazzing up our home lunches. Here the kids are cutting up veggies to go into tortilla wraps.

We made ham/turkey & cheese wraps with ranch & veggies
and pb & j wraps with banana- both great!

It's spring time in Megan's town & pretty close in our town.
I am getting lots of "at the park" pictures texted to me & I LOVE it.

Yesterday Chloe & I walked - yes walked, it was so nice outside!
Down to see the babies.

This was our welcome at the door!
Brian & Laura are such great parents.

(smiles from Finn)

Today I spent about 5 hours straight with them!
What a fun time- twins make single babies look easy.
These boys are so good though- really good babies.
Really lucky parents!
More on our visit in tomorrow's post.
