County Fair

I feel like I haven't blogged in forever...
so today I am working on a little catching up.
Yesterday morning was a blissfully rainy day- rain- it's August- and we had rain! Not just any rain, but cool rain. The high was maybe 74 degrees. It was glorious. After a bunch of errands & chores, the sun came out & we took the family to the County Fair.

It was a little bit of a struggle getting out the door...
NO ONE wanted to go (especially TRent)-
but the "meanest mom & the meanest dad" (quote from trent)- made them go- The Nerve!
Jack of course is nearing his college departure & is trying to be very pleasant. I knew he didn't want to go... but went anyway. His days are limited & he is being so kind to tag along, do extra jobs, even babysit etc.

We headed straight for the petting animals as soon as we got there.
It was so great!

There was food to feed the animals & they were HUNgrY.
It was so funny.

Trent- of course, changed his mind immediately about the fair.

Side note: After the fair we were heading to a near by town to do a little school shopping- then he didn't want to go shopping... oh my gosh... some body help me. Will this kid ever just conform?
The goats of course were very greedy.
Brett held some back while Chloe fed the babies.
There were some bunnies for sale which lead to intense begging.
Followed by intense laughter. Meanest mom here- remember?
It was a perfect afternoon.
Later Brett & I went to see:
Which was FABUlous!!!
two thumbs way up- I loved it!
{except for one silly "f" word- why do they throw those in?}
All in all it was a GREAt summer Saturday!

we are so rowdy!

Last night
we had tickets to this....
I got the tickets a month in advance through a special lottery.
Honesty they were bad tickets- like the top row, nose bleed section.
We had a bbsitter for trent-
remember the girls are gone?
Then-
last minute-
we got tickets for this.... instead.

It was so, so, sooo good.
we even got tickets on the back row middle (my favorite seat)- and popcorn-and extra butter- and diet coke.

It was delightful-
but I forgot my camera.
have you seen the movie?

day off

I am so happy to say that I was feeling much better this morning.
We had big plans & it all worked out. First we went to see Kevin James in Mall Cop-
I loved it. Some of the rest of the family thought it was cheesy.
But I really loved it- not just because I feel a moral obligation to go see family/PG movies in the first weekend they are out - to support the making of family movies.
(Am I crazy? I really feel this way)
We are really big Kevin James fans here & have seen every King of Queens...
over & over
and we still love the show!

Afterwards- we did a little shopping & spent some Christmas gift card money.

I'm not the "cool let's go shopping" kind of mom.
I hate most malls.
But this was really fun.
Then, we took the kids to Jimmy John's.
After my post on lunch there & how much I love it-
the kids were feeling ripped off for never having been there-
can't say I blame them!

Now we all love it!

* Did you have a day off on Martin Luther King Jr. Day?
*have you seen Mall Cop?
*will you?
*do you like to go shopping at the mall...?

movie review

Are you looking for a good summer movie for the kids?
Seriously- look no farther.
Do you remember this one? Disney's First Kid. I DVR'd it this past week & we have been giggling & laughing ever since. Its darling, rated PG & oh so funny. That sinbad- he really should make more movies for kids. Anyhow... just in case it's gettin' hot at your house (it's supposed to hit 100 here today) I thought I would recommend you netflix this baby right away.
Word of caution- there is one bear bum sighting of the kid.
Oh lighten up! It's all good. It's a great show, really- you'll love it, or at least your kids will.
I love this movie so much it's on my: movies we should own list -& that's a tiny little list.

Tonight we took two ticked off teens, an eight year old who hates to go to movies, & chloe to a movie. It didn't start off too hot but ended great. It ended up being really fun & we were glad we went. I remember being a teen and not wanting to go do anything with my family too. Not for any particular reason just moody- same as these two. They weren't angry just unmotivated to do anything.
Well I wanted to see this- or this but the kids voted on this.
We all watched these same trailers and voted during our early dinner.
We loved it! It was darling- a great family movie. I haven't been to a movie in a year & this last week I've been to two. Amazing. I'm definately not qualified to be a movie critic, but I loved them both anyhow.

Hey bright flash! Do you go to movies?
