hailey gets married- personal photos

Last summer
(almost a whole year ago now?!)
Our Hailey got married!

(Tyson & Hailey engagement photo)

I have to say-
EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR KIDS HAS MARRIED SO WELL!
I honestly love each one of them. It's so scary & interesting really, to see who your children choose as a mate for life.
We are thrilled.

We held the wedding ceremony & reception in my dear friend's backyard, same yard as a year earlier where Chloe's wedding reception was held. This is a before picture. It's the perfect yard for a summer wedding. Absolutely dreamy & all shaded. It was a perfect venue & we feel so indebted to Kristal & Jeremy for allowing us to do this and TWICE!

(another engagement photo)

This is the wedding cake - in the freezer before setting it up and delivering it. I think it's the only snapshot we got- I am so proud of myself because I made it!
It was a white cake with chocolate mousse filling and cream cheese frosting.

To beat the heat we had a late ceremony & reception.
It was too late for dinner so we served lovely - actually an amazing- assortment of appetizers.

For the reception we served an assortment of cookies & bottles of soda.
Plus- the wedding cake.

I will post some of the professional pictures soon.
It was the perfect day for these two & I can't believe my friends and I pulled off another amazing wedding. Seriously- we've thought about going into business! (not really)

It's been nearly a year & Hailey is working as an ABA Therapist and Tyson has landed his dream job. He is a police officer in their town.
Are they adorable or what?!

a busy May 2014

Still catching up
In May we were so busy-
Who Isn't?
May & December are the two busiest months of the year for us.

We had our annual YW graduation fireside on the Bountiful Temple Grounds.

I'm so proud & happy for these two friends.

Hailey was in the chalk art festival for the first time!
SERIOUSLY! So fun & so exciting- Hooray for Hailey going way outside her comfort zone & doing something she has always wanted to do.

We went to Baccalaureate with Chloe & friends.
Its such an exciting time.

Trent has been in a Social Dance class this whole year.

They had their spring recital - dance concert- at the University of Utah.
IT WAS HANDS DOWN AMAZING

We are so grateful for good teachers!
It was a lot of time sitting in a theater for mom- brought back memories.

Chloe flipped over it & was wishing her school had a program like this!

Brett & I celebrated 28 years of marriage!

Chloe & friends graduated from Seminary!

so excited I can't stand it - I even dreamed about it last night!

last night I bought two of these-
second tier- 1st row balcony.
Not the best tickets but still good.
I am so thrilled about this!
In my quest for a more meaningful life I had to do it.
I have always wanted season tickets to this series, for years even.
Now, it's something to look forward to-
just what my other ticket holder/partner & I need.
to get us out of the dull drums that sometimes lurk around us.
Did you read the performance details?
Oh ya- I am so excited!

*do you need something to look forward to?

22 years

Today is our anniversary. I can't believe it, but it's true- married 22 years now. What a blessing my marriage has been in my life, beyond words. With my newlywed daughter in mind here is my list of 22 things I have learned about marriage-
1. Be kind.
2. Take time out everyday to talk & be together, even if it's just a few minutes before you fall asleep.
3. Pray for & with your spouse & family everyday.
4. Work to make your life together good- pull your own weight- don't expect him to do everything.
5. When you can't pull your own weight, you'll be glad that you usually do.
6. A reasonably clean home just makes everyone feel better - I'm not talking perfection, but you know what I mean. It doesn't matter who cleans it- but if you have more time at home then you should do the best you can.
7. Make goals together & work together to achieve them.
8. Make your expectations clear, don't assume he should know or already knows anything. This is especially true for holidays & birthdays. Trust me on this one- be specific if it is that important to you.
9. You HAVE to have a sense of humor- if you can find the funny in even irritating situations it will lesson the stress immensely, but sometimes you have to keep the laughter to yourself. (at least for a while)
10. Don't take yourself too seriously.
12. Be loyal- always.
13. Intimacy really is important.
14. So he leaves sock on the floor or hair in the bathroom- just be glad it's there, if it weren't he wouldn't be there.
15. risk it- give yourself completely- don't go half way- it's a risk you have to make.
16. children make marriage harder.
17. and better- it's work though- no doubt about it.
18. Don't EVER get so busy that you lose touch of the love you share.
19. That means date nights- no matter how busy you are & no matter what the kids are doing- no matter how much money you have- make your time together one of your biggest priorities.
20. The best thing you can give your children is an example of a good relationship/marriage to their father. You can find a qualified babysitter. I've known two different couples where the wife refused to leave the kids with a sitter- they're both divorced now.
21. Go on vacations with & without the kids/family. Yearly if you can.
22. If all else fails, refer to #1.

Happy Anniversary Brett- I love you!
