blizzard 2010

For some reason I can't get a picture to paste...
but here is the current weather situation here
It's super cold with wind & snow blowing.
I've lived here in Centerville, Utah for 14 1/2 years now-
never have we had the national weather service announce a
blizzard warning!
maybe it's going to get worse...
but it seems like a regular ol' snow storm to me!
Dangerous- Snowy-Cold
winter is here

conversations with trent

Today Brett & I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary!
I didn't take any photos, our real anniversary is tomorrow.
I'll ask someone to take one of us.
We went out to lunch, ran some errands & did a little shopping.
Because there was a FAntastic Deal at Costco on a Clear Play... we bought one. We have been considering it for over a year now. Now Trent can watch Transformers 2-- without the inappropriate parts. He is so excited. He came into the garage to tell me about a surprise he & chloe had for us- but I surprised him- with the clear play. He ran into the house & yelled to the other kids
"NO MORE SWEAR WORDS!!"
silly me, I didn't realize swear words were in abundance?
Later we decided that maybe there needs to be a clear play for mom's mouth?
dang
Tonight he told Brett & I that he came up with a great idea on how to make money.
He is always dying to make money- for who knows what? In fact, last night while we were watching a movie & he was on this very laptop- he applied for a job at Boeing online. That's what he tells us & he was on the site to do just that...? I wonder if we will hear back from them? I told him he needs to do good in school- that's his job. He says- he's done with all that- he already knows a lot- plus this kid Brandon somebody in his class is always bugging him- a job Now- that's the way to go!?
The money making idea:
"We could turn the upstairs into a hotel!"
I asked, "Where would the girls sleep?"
He replied, "Oh they can still sleep in their rooms, they just have to pay us."
Just before bed- I said, "do you really want a bunch of weirdos staying in our house?"
"Not weirdos mom, just family- we can charge them money!"
so- if any family wants to pay to stay in trent's room
call & make a reservation today!
NOTE: These photos are from last weekend
when it was sunny
unlike this whole past week...
I NEED SOME SUN
so bad.
I have been really good to not complain, but
(notice no swear words?)
I could never move back to Seattle. This gloomy weather is killing me.
P.s. the surprise trent & chloe had waiting for us?
everyone picked up the house & chloe made banana cake- we had a banana cake with whipped cream frosting from a Swedish bakery in Seattle at our wedding reception. What a bunch of sweeties

today is my birthday

Warning: this post may contain my own irrational rantings & emotions.
If you will be upset by them-
if you will call my mother or mother in law about this-
please turn back now. You are not really welcome here.
It is MY birthday & I will cry if I want to.
the end.
Happy Birthday to me
Today I am 42!!
(balloons placed on my doorstep by some wonderful person whom I love with all my heart. I really don't know who it was- but I am so touched & feel so loved, thank you)

I really cannot believe I am forty two...?
Who ever thinks they are going to be forty two...?
I'm not upset by this- it just seems surreal, strange, & weird.
Life is surely at least nearly half way over for me.

This is on my mailbox today!
~I LOVE IT~
I didn't want to be arrested for going outside in my pj's without a bra... at least that's what I told trent so he would take the photo ;)
I was so delighted to see it there!!
surely there will be good mail in this box today...
If you don't already know it-
I have birthday anticipation issues.
It's true.
It's ugly.
I don't know why- well I do, somewhat, but I am not willing to share all of the details here- it's not pretty & not characteristic of me. Or at least I like to think it is not characteristic of me.
Anyhow....
because my sweet husband could see that I was getting even worse than usual-
he brought me my birthday present a little early last night!
That's right baby- my own beach comber Schwinn in baby blue!!
I am in love
with both of them.

In honor of my new ride & my looming day
we rode down to my favorite restaurant for dinner.

It was a BLast- in unthinkably perfect, July 80 degree weather.
(real summer comes this weekend with temps reaching 100+)
If every summer had weather this perfect- more people would want to live here.
(another photo by t)

We sat on the porch until way after dark & discussed my need for birthday recognition, my fears of being forgotten, why we do the things we do, why we don't do the things we don't do... it was healing for me to just talk & for him to just listen.
Thank you sweetheart for being there for me.
listening & not fixing
I needed that & today I am feeling a lot better.
Now I am going to go put a bra on so trent & I can ride around the neighborhood before it gets too hot & before the blogger moms come to pick me up for a birthday lunch!!

the fourth

We headed down to the parade
on main street this year with muffins & orange juice in hand
Lucky for us it's only a block away & we can pretty much get up & go!

The weather was FANTAStic!!
A fourth of July- first- it wasn't burning hot!!!
It couldn't have been better- all day long - perfect.
The weather people say it's over- 90's all week.
It was GREat while it lasted.

Some people are not as cooperative as others in the morning,
if you get my drift?

Jack & who's that with the glow in the dark hair??
SETh
ya - he bleached it for the summer.
It's easy to spot him in the crowd - oh to be young again?
The parade starts off with 4 F-16's flying by-
fantastic!

There were floats
and my favorite marching band

Trent was picking up candy being thrown & sharing.
He doesn't really like candy.

Jack looks so tall in this photo-
I think I need to send it to his brother the missionary...
The missionary is about 5'9". He & Jack have been neck & neck their whole lives until... puberty hit Jack & he sky rocketed. Whenever I send pictures to the missionary he thinks jack MuSt be standing on his tippy toes... nope. He is going to be ticked off for sure when he gets home to see jack is over 6 ft. now- that is unless he has grown down there in Chile?

Kristy & Jake were in the parade!
Trent was looking for them the whole time.

After the parade we went to the carnival-- also just blocks away.
We ate pizza & shaved ice in the park- voted for our favorite quilt in the quilt show, saw some local entertainment, Trent toured a fire truck! Thanks fire man.
We went home, took naps, the company went shopping,
then we had a BBQ & fireworks.
I guess I was burned out tired on photos- I quit after the park.
It was a GREAT fourth!
Summer feels like it is finally here!

memorial day

We had a really good Memorial day. Even though it rained the whole day.
In fact it was super rainy. It reminded me of every single fourth of July we spent in Seattle. Pouring rain. No let up.Brett has been working with scouts in our area for years. They've been putting up flags for a fund raiser on patriotic holidays. It's a great thing! Every year on Memorial day he prepares an inspirational message about patriotism, valor, it's great for the boys. Tonight we used the same message for family night. Then we watched the National Memorial Day concert I had taped the day before on.
It was amazing!
Also, look at this, Brett fixed my bike so I'm up & running for the summer!!
Woo Hoo- I'm excited to ride to the library with Trent & Chloe next week when school is out.
Only 4 days left & school's out for summer.

*did you have a great day?

Are we seeing spring on the horizon finally?
I hope so!!!

Another Busy Day :)

Today I had such a great/busy day. I am the Legislative V.P. at the Jr high & today was PTA day at the Legislature. I have always wanted to go to -so I was really excited about it. The State Capitol of Utah is Salt Lake City & our Capitol building was recently remodeled to make it earthquake safe, etc. (I was really looking forward to seeing the building.) In fact Pres. Hinckley's last public address was the prayer at the dedication of the building. I left really early, just after Chloe & Trent left for school, hoping to go on the tour that was offered before the workshops started.
Well, I would've gone on the tour if it didn't take me 45 extra minutes to get into the building because of NO PARKING!! I literally parked so far away that you couldn't even see the building & my parking space was straight up a huge hill.
The conference was great. I learned so much about house & senate bills that affect children/schools & how to become more involved. I now wish I could be more involved with the process next year... we'll see.The walk down the hill wasn't too bad- piece of cake but the walk up- OH MY GOSH. How about some funds for parking? It was a hard treck in heals but I made it. I was in a hurry because I was trying to meet with Megan and a wedding photographer early, so that I could be home before the rush hour traffic. Me eating lunch & walking up that hill at the same time, all while having to go to the bathroom was scary for those cars driving by I'm sure.

I just want to document that I know now beyond a shadow of a doubt that God loves me. I know because, right after I got in the car & started driving down the hill it started to rain. Thank you, thank you to the heavens for not raining on me before I got in the car!

Megan & I met with the photographer who we absolutely loved, booked him & picked out invitations! Woo Hoo~ who says weddings have to be complicated?
(oh no I may have just jinxed myself)
I forgot to take a picture of us- I'm not sure she would be willing seeing as she sped up driving past me...
when she saw the camera in my hands!
COWARD
Well I'm home early- missed the traffic- and done with meetings for today.
(I had a bunch yesterday too.)
Everyone is busy with activities tonight...
(jack-rugby/hailey- early youth group/chloe-ballet/Brett - YM president)
so Trent & I are going to the library!
*don't you hate it when you can't find a parking place?
*are you interested in your state & local government?
*do you feel personally blessed when the weather goes your way?

This is the view out my front door this morning. I can't remember a year when it has snowed so often. We may not get huge accumulations like this one (6" on top of what we already had) but it has been snowing at least twice a week for over a month now. If only we would've had this kind of snow in 02 during the Olympics- which by-the-way- I LOVED.
I will be posting my SPT later. Today I am messing around with the kids since there is no school again- end of semester teacher work shop day. No one is sick- hurray- & it's sunny! We are just having an at home day. Trent slept in until 8:20- amazing & absolutely unheard of! So you know it's gonna be a good day!
