president's day shocker

So for President's day we stayed home & caught up on a lot of stuff around the house... sounds boring I know but- since I've been sick we were really behind & we are having company this week. Not too exciting we cleaned & cleaned & you know- vacuumed behind couches-zzzzzz The fun part is that after all the work was done we ordered in Chinese food!
**warning**
(You may want to sit down when you read this next part)
Apparently EVERY FAMILY our kids know order pizza or Chinese food all the time! Even weekly- Sometimes twice a week!? We are the only ones eating home cooked meals- the horror.
It's like child abuse.
-I had NO idea we were such odd balls-
The big kids watched a movie & me & this guy....

played our favorite game!
-He won-
GREAT DAy!

*do you order pizza or chinese once a week?

We rarely order in...I, too, abuse my children with home cooked meals :( I'm expecting social services to appear at my door at any moment, now.

I remember hearing a story once that I think Sister Hinckley told about one of her children or someones child telling her one night that they needed to bring in a dozen or so cookies to school the next day. So she made up a batch of homemade cookies.
The next day, when she asked the child how they liked the cookies, the kid said that all of the store bought ones had been eaten and they had to settle for the homemade one...:) Unless it was one of those pink and white frosted circus cookies...then I could see why they would be so bummed out to not have recieve one...:)

Isn't that crazy? Although, I must admit to liking boxed brownies to ones from scratch!

That chinese food looks delicious... We don't even order chinese or pizza once a month... I can't even imagine weekly:)

nope. guess i'm one of those abusive mothers as well, cooking at the stove and slaving away in the kitchen just to save a buck. oh well...it's all worth it. and i haven't played sorry! in ages. what a great game.

First, I think it's GREAT that cooking meals at home and eating as a family is the norm. We are doing better at that, cooking 3-4 days a week and stretching leftovers. We eat out Tex-Mex at least once a week--that's a deal breaker!

We bring home Chinese maybe once every 2 months, pizza maybe once or twice a month.

I haven't played Sorry in a long time. Sorry. Glad y'all had fun!

I would much rather have your food over take out any day.

I agree with Megan! I can totally relate to what you are saying as my children would prefer Wendy's every day if possible. Sorry looks like fun. Glad Trent won:)

i'm abusive too i guess. we actually went out to dinner on monday as a family for the first time since...DISNEYLAND in october! :) that chinese food does look fabulous though, maybe we'll have to start being one of those families. something tells me there's not room in the budget for it though.

Oh man I'm the only "good" parent out there....what on Earth? I'm reporting all of you...you should be ashamed of your selves cooking meals everyday...what are you thinking?

We don't get take-out weekly, but it's not because I'm abusing them with glorious, home-cooked meals. We forage way too often and eat a lot of sandwiches.

The sad thing is I know exactly the place you got your Chinese food. I got take out a lot from that place during my pregnancies. We eat out lunch a lot, but dinner I try to make it only once a week unless it is a bad week then we eat out more. I would rather eat your yummy looking food any day.

This looks delish Patsy!! Where did you order from? We never order chinese but do get pizza maybe twice a month...but i really want to order that food..please tell!

I also wanted to comment about those cute old men you talked about a few days ago. I worked at Target for a while before i had my last baby and i got to know those cute men really well! I looked forward to seeing them every morning and i know they felt the same way.....someone to chat with eveyrday! It was so fun and they had a lot of wisdon to share with a "young" buck like me.
I dont think i have ever commented but i have been "blog-stalking" for a while..you always crack me up!

You are not freaks, or if you are then we are too. We only get Papa Murphy's pizza about two times per month on date night, so I don't have to cook before going out. The other two date night they make spaghetti with jarred sauce. We never get take out chinese. We don't even go out for hamburgers very often. It is home cooked meals every day at the VanWagoner house. My children are so extremely abused that they don't even get cold cereal very often (gasp.) You are a great mom.

okay let me clarify-
we really don't have FAbulous home cooked meals everynight- but i do try to cook most nights... sometimes it's just eating together as a family that counts

This is the saddest thing ever. I am reading this and I am stuffing food from iceburg down my throat. Kristi and I use to do a food group and it was the only time in my adult life that I had home meals 4x a week. I thought everyone had pizza night from Papa Murphys. My husband would love a wife that cooks.

Uh, no. We get pizza maybe once a month, if that. Marc and I get take-out Thai or Chinese for a date night maybe once a month. Your kids are lucky! (someday they will realize that)
