conference saturday

Two weekends a year my church has it's general conference.
It's a wonderful time for our family to listen & learn.
We stay home & cozy & love it.
Even though it snowed... again... I got up, got in the shower, dressed & made waffles. Nothing is going to spoil my favorite weekend. (It continued to snow all morning, but now it has stopped & it is all melted!!)
Brett & the kids worked on a puzzle plus,My niece Brittany sent me these conference packets for Chloe & Trent via email.
They love them. Yesterday I put together these Conference Cookie packs for the ladies I visit teach. I decided to do something a little different than the conference kits, just to mix it up a little.
Who doesn't love warm out of the oven chocolate chip cookies?!

I've been working on Chloe's twin quilts. They are more than half way done & I seriously love them already. I really think this is going to be the cutest quilt I have ever made by a long shot. I guess I really haven't made that many.... so that's not a hard one to beat.

I learned how HERE- oh how I love bloggers.

I wish I knew her address I would send her a thank you!

Seriously she has the best tutorials ever & I am going to be doing all- most of them!

Hailey- isn't she cute!? Taking notes for seminary.

Jack chillin' with my laptop.

It's been a great Saturday.

happy st. patrick's day

So I did it!
I followed the advice of the 2 clever mom's & bought Lucky Charms for breakfast-
then made the cutest ever
green lunches for my kids.

I took GReen loaves of bread to my VTeachee's & made a quick
but yummy GReen dinner. Besides all that it was our R.S. birthday party.
I had signed up to decorate a cake
I opted for taste over St. Patrick themed...

and went with my favorite chocolate cake
Black Forest Style
I LOVE this cake
SO EASy & SO darn moist & good!

Every RS activity involves the Young Women in our ward.
It's the BEST Idea for Relief Society EVer!
The Young Women leaders get to come to the R.S. activity & the girls get to hang out with the women & their moms. They are just so fun to have around- all the women gush over them.

After the party I ran to Target to grab a couple of things...
while I was waiting for a RX to be filled I ran into these
CUPCAke SAndaLS
They are so cute!
Too bad Chloe & Hailey won't wear them- they won't fit me either!
-Bummer-
On a not so happy note-
today wasn't my best day...
I had a long Community council meeting with the worst cramps-
(holy hell- when is that going to be over??- I'm talking about the cramps)
came home to two sickos, then got ready for a scout service project.
Let me just put it this way- I only swore once.
I may be getting released from scouts....?
At least it was just two boys overhearing me say -
what the hell were you thinking?
to my own kid-
but still--- I'm pretty sure swearing is frowned upon.
getting nine year old boys to do work is really not easy, especially my own scout who sat in the car & pouted & now is throwing a huge fit because he didn't get the scout treat.
LESSON LEARNED:
**PMS & CUB SCOUTS do not mix**

*does your local bakery bake GREen Bread?
*do you consider Hell a swear word????

young women who know

Weeks ago I was asked to be a "guest speaker" or guest lesson giver- today in Young Women's.
Young Women's is where young women (12-18) meet on Sunday, after Sunday school to learn about the gospel.
My subject was one of my favorite things:
Homemaking.
Some of the topics we covered were:
- HOmemaking & housekeeping are different, HOw?
- Every person is a HOmemaker, whether they know it or not!
- Our attitude is key to how we do in this position.
- Why is it a good feeling to be in a clean home?
- How does Homemaking add to the spiritual atmosphere of a home?
Quote: "When mothers know who they are and who God is and have made covenants with Him, they will have great power and influence for good on their children"
( Julie B. Beck October General Conference Saturday afternoon session talk- Mother's Who Know.)
The main idea today was:
Young Women who "know" want to be Homemakers!
YW who know realize that being an excellent homemaker is a choice & something to be proud of. We can be & do anything we want-HOORAY- but no success is more important than success in the home.
Imagine my delight when I woke up from my Sunday nap to these!!
Chloe had made strawberry cupcakes with lemonade icing-
OH MY GOODNESS-
delightful. yummy. surprise
-Today I feel like I am doing something right-
although it is a great feeling (I've had it before) it's usually fleeting and
typically is followed by intense moments of humiliation.
(I'm joking here people)
For now-
I'M LOVIN' IT
*how was your Sunday?

Conference Watching Kits

I got this great idea from my blogging friend Jill.
I took three to my visiting teachees & three to friends.
Each one is a little different but some of the things inside are...
microwave popcorn, hot cocoa, note pads & pens, chocolates.
My friend Jenny never eats sugar so I love to bring her these.
They are so good.
Making & taking these around has made me so happy today!
Thanks for the great idea Jill!
**Hot news**
I can't believe I have forgotten to blog about this but Brett & my two boys Brian & Jack are singing in the choir for Priesthood session!!
They have been practicing for six weeks- so tell the priesthood in your life to look for them.
*What are you doing this weekend?
*Do you love conference?
*Do you have any good V.T. ideas?
